We had our annual Easter Egg Dyeing Party for the family on Friday night. We had yummy Papa Murphy's pizza and semi-homemade brownies! YUMMY! Jace thoroughly got into the act this year. Morgan was still trying to process it all. After all the excitement of the dyeing we did Resurrection eggs with the kids. There are 12 eggs in the set and each egg has something inside it that corresponds with the crucifixion and resurrection of Christ. Each egg has a story from scripture that you read along with opening the eggs. The neat thing about them is that the last egg is EMPTY! How cool is that? It is such a wonderful way to explain the meaning of Easter to children. This is the first year that Jace really "got" Easter. He was excited about the Easter bunny and eggs and candy, etc., etc., etc., but it is really cool as a parent to listen to your child explain the story of Easter to you in his own words. Wow. This is how his prayer went on Easter night before bed:
"Dear Jesus, thank you for Easter, and thank you for dying on the cross for my sins. Thank you for raising from the dead and for the empty grave. Thank you for going to live in the clouds. And thank you that the mean Roman soldiers don't ever have to hurt your side again. In Jesus' name, Amen."
He is risen, He is risen INDEED!
Jace is very intense
Being VERY careful!
