For those of you who have been following Jace's vision, we have some really, REALLLLLLY good news! My mom and dad took Jace to the eye specialist for a follow-up of March's appointment while the kids were in Houston last week. Our prayer was that his vision had not worsened since the appointment. We have been religiously patching his eye and doing exactly what the doctor told us to do since then. He was seeing 20/60 in March.
However, we got all that and then some. God has really had His hand on Jace, and last week his vision was 20/30!!!!!!!!! PRAISE THE LORD!!!!
We were so unbelieveably thrilled. That means he has gone from reading 20/200 at Christmas to reading 20/30 in July. He even read two letters on the 20/25 line and is also measuring some depth perception, which he has never had before. Of course, our athletic Daddy was pleased because he was thinking about the future athlete that we have on our hands!!!
I told Josh when we got the news on our trip that I would never have DARED to ask for something so wonderful and good. God has blessed us immensely with this good news. We don't take it for granted at all and give Him all the glory. There is a point where you can do all you can and that you just have to let the Lord take it from there.
Back about 18 months ago, before Jace had eye surgery, his memory verse at Sunday school that week was 2 Kings 20:5:
"I have heard your prayer and seen your tears; I will heal you."
How appropriate. We truly believe that Jace has been healed. Although we will still have to take measures daily to ensure that his vision stays where it is, we still believe with all of our hearts that God has chosen to honor our prayer and heal Jace's vision.
Thank you to everyone out there who has prayed for us and for our son. We are eternally grateful for lifting us up in the place of prayer when we were too weak to do so ourselves. God is good ALL the time, ALL the time God is GOOD.
