In Loving Memory - A.L. Burns, Jr.

This past weekend we said goodbye to Josh's Granddaddy Burns. Josh wrote this email to our church prayer chain and I thought he said it well:

On Saturday evening my grandfather, A.L. Burns went to be with Jesus. He came in from the garage after killing a snake and collapsed on the floor in his kitchen. He was gone almost immediately apparently from a massive heart attack.

While we are saddened at losing him we know there is a wonderful homecoming celebration in heaven with his wife of over 50 years, his mom and dad, and many more. He was a wonderful caring man who loved life for all of the 83 years he spent on this earth. Most importantly he loved God with all his heart and he lived his life accordingly. For our family he has been a wonderful example of a Godly father, husband, grandfather, and businessman.

We have lost the patriarch on both sides of our family in the past year. They can never be replaced but they have prepared us well to take the torch they have now passed. There is no greater gift you can give to your family than the gift of a Godly heritage and I am truly blessed to have had it on both sides of my family. I plan to pass that blessing on to my kids and grandkids and I challenge each of you to do the same with yours.

We love you all,
Josh, Brandy, Jace, Morgan, Mike, Pam, Jeremy, and Lauren

For those interested, you can see a full obituary at http://www.texarkanafuneralhome.com/. We were so fortunate to get to spend a week with Granddaddy and Emma in March as they came to visit the Roswell crowd. Time is precious with your loved ones!!
